3d animated blood flow (V-Ray) – Windkessel effect
In this case study we showcased the Windkessel effect. Here the interaction between the stroke volume and the compliance of the aorta creates the shape of the arterial blood pressure waveform.
We created the animation in 3dsmax 2014 using a physiques based mparticles flow, animated pflow collision shapes and wind forces to create the back draft.
The friendly guys from Chaos Group asked us, if we would like to give V-Ray 3.0 a try. Of course we agreed and (being longtime mental ray users) tested it thoroughly. We took an animation we rendered using Mental Ray and switched it to Vray using the SSS material.
Here´s what we came up with.
